Julie

Hi! I’m Julie Kitchens. If the last name seems familiar, it’s because I happen to be Lizzie’s sister! As our dad has mentioned many times, writing is the curse of the Kitchens’s family.

When I was in elementary school, I hated reading, until I came across a series of books that hooked me into the wonderful world of fiction. Now I’m an avid reader who would be lost without exciting stories. Goosebumps started my love of stories, and then my interest progressively turned toward YA fantasy books. There’s something so fascinating about the vast creativity of forming your own worlds and adventures. Then one day, a long time ago, as I was reading from my favorite series, Fablehaven, the thought occurred to me that since I loved reading so much, why not write my own book? And that’s exactly what I did (and am still doing). When I first started writing, I was clueless on writing techniques. I had a story, and I went with it. Let’s just say I’ve learned a few things since then.

Besides delving into the imaginary world of my work-in-progress, I am a missionary teacher living across the sea in Okinawa, Japan. I love living overseas and have had many adventures of my own. I’m excited about this new adventure of being part of Lands Uncharted.
