Where Do You Find Your Books? Top 3's (Jill)

Maybe when you saw the title of this post, your reply was, "Wherever I can!" That's usually my response, too. But despite my towering TBR (To Be Read) pile, if I find books for sale, I still manage to come home with a few new ones (or at least new to me).
I also keep track of the titles that look interesting. I have a list on Amazon, a list on my local library account, a paper list floating around the house somewhere, and let's not forget that TBR pile I mentioned. There's not enough time in my life to read all these titles -- but I'm going to try. So where do I find all these titles?

 3) Instagram: I finally caved and signed up for an Instagram account. I'm not very good at taking pictures of anything and everything. But I love seeing the #bookstagram pictures, if for no other reason, than to see what everyone is reading.

2) Goodreads: I have a list here, too. This year was my first year to participate in the yearly reading challenge, which was a lot of fun. Goodreads does a good job of informing readers. Sometimes, I'll check the title information and reviews here before hopping onto Amazon.

1) Word of mouth: There is no substitute for this. For example, I'd heard of The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater, but only picked it up after my friend Carrie Ann Noble raved about it. If I have a friend who's gushing about something she's read, it won't be long before I pick it up, especially if we read the same genre.

So where do you find your books? Is there a website or a physical place that draws you in? Tell us in the comments below. We'd love to know -- because you can never have too many books!

  1. I find a lot of new reads through Facebook. Usually what happens is someone promotes their own or somebody else’s book that’s on sale. I snap it up in Kindle. I love it. Then I have to pick up every single title they’ve written.

    1. Yes, I've found many that way, as well. The internet/FB makes it pretty easy. ☺

  2. I used to find most of my books by browsing at the library or bookstore, but now that I have so many author friends I get books almost exclusively from recommendations or because I know the author. I'm rarely looking for new books anymore because my TBR pile is miles high!

    1. Oh, I agree. My poor TBR pile! I wish I could read faster. ☺
