Make sure to check back in a few days to see the results!

See you next time!

P.S. With two young kids, my husband and I rarely make it to the movie theater, so we're counting on you to help us prioritize which 2015 movies we need to make sure to check out :)

    1. Good selections and very tough to choose a favorite, but I think I'll go with Inside Out. Just an amazingly clever, entertaining movie!

      1. I've heard very positive things about that movie - I'm excited to see it eventually!

    2. Oh! All amazing ones, but I have to say The Force Awakens tops them all. I love Hunger Games, but Jurassic World actually was better, I think. Inside Out is cute, but as a mom tired of kids shows, bring on the grownup shows!!!!

      1. Ha, I hear you about the kids shows - I can't even count the number of times we've watched Cars and Planes :) I'll admit, based on episodes 1-3 I wasn't that excited about a new Star Wars movie coming out, but it sounds like I won't be disappointed in this one!

    3. Star Wars: The Force Awakens was absolutely my favorite for 2015!

Shockingly, I've seen all the movies you listed. We were able to see far more movies this year than normal, having family available to babysit during the last half of the year. :)

Some other notable movies of 2015 include:
      - Avengers: Age of Ultron (Probably tied for my second favorite movie of the year, with Jurassic World. I haven't yet seen the others I'm listing below here.)
      - Insurgent
      - Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials
      - Cinderella
      - The Martian

I'm mostly writing that out to comment on the prevalence of reboots and sequels these days. From your list and my list combined, only two out of nine movies are completely original, and one of those two is based on a novel. I don't think it used to be like that a couple decades ago. But we're also seeing a decent number of books turned into movies, which is kinda nice. :)

      1. That's funny you mentioned Avengers: Age of Ultron, because I was going to include that as a fifth choice but trying to fit in another picture was proving very frustrating so it got cut :) You're right, it's crazy how many re-makes they're doing these days, it seems like someone out there should have some original ideas left. It's sounding like The Force Awakens will definitely need to go on our "must see" list!

    4. Amazingly, I have also seen all of these movies!! It's a tough choice, but I think my vote goes to the Hunger Games! I really enjoyed seeing how they made the series of books into movies. Inside Out definitely gets the award for most creative. I think you should watch them all :)

      1. Ooh, that's good to know you liked Hunger Games so much, I have so much catching up to do with those movies! Ha, hopefully we'll manage to see them all eventually, but at the rate we get through movies I'm guessing it might be a while :)

    5. The Force Awakens was my favorite in terms of entertainment and having fun in the theater, but Inside Out was so creative and made me think in a whole new way about sadness! I haven't seen Jurassic World yet, but have a date with my 11-year-old son to watch Jurassic Park this weekend. . .he thinks I need to watch the entire series in order. : ( There were too many things about Hunger Games that annoyed me. . .I suppose I have read the books too many times.

      1. Have fun watching Jurassic Park with your son this weekend! That's sweet that he wants you to watch them in order :) I've only seen the first Hunger Games movie so far but in some ways I think I liked it better than the book, which is not usually my opinion! Though I had kind of an odd experience with the Hunger Games books because I listened to the books on tape and in my opinion the narrator's voice wasn't a good fit, so I think I would've liked them better if I had just read the books instead.

    6. Embarrassingly, the only one I've seen is Mockingjay, but I really liked it! I've also heard good things about Inside Out. And although the Star Wars isn't my usual "type" of movie, I think I may check it out to see what all the hype is about :)

      1. Thanks for stopping by, Emily! No judgment here, sadly I haven't seen any of these movies - yet :) I've heard good things about Inside Out, too, though it sounds like it will be an emotional one! I know what you mean about Star Wars, sci fi isn't usually my thing either but it seems like everyone is really excited about this new one!

    7. Inside Out for originality and concept. Followed up by close second, Jurassic World, for its violent yet emotionally vulnerable velociraptors.

      1. Wow, you really have a way with words, Kyle - that was some impressive alliteration! Have you ever considered becoming a writer? :) Plus, now I'm much more intrigued about Jurassic World than I ever was before. I'm sure we'll definitely be seeing Inside Out at some point - Disney movies are pretty unavoidable with kids, though this is one I'm looking forward to! Thanks for casting your vote!

    8. I've only seen Jurassic World, but I did really like that, it was especially good for the big screen. Same concept as the original: Dino's on the loose! So, if you liked that you'll like this :) all the others are on my list though too! I'd be interested to hear what you think of any of them!

      1. Thanks for your comment! It's good to know that Jurassic World is best viewed on the big screen - that definitely makes a difference when we're deciding what to see in the theater versus waiting to watch it at home. Ha, "Dino's on the loose" should be their tagline, I love it! If I manage to see any of these in the near future I'll make sure to stop back and post a comment to let you know what I thought! Unless I have so much to say that it merits its own blog post :)

    10. Jurassic World! It was fantastic :) or like a previous post said, the second Avengers movie is one you'll like if you saw and liked the first one!

      1. Thanks for casting your vote, Stephanie! I'll admit I was a little surprised at how positive the reviews were for Jurassic World when it first came out, but it sounds like it's definitely worth checking out!

    11. Thanks for voting everyone! Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the winner, but Inside Out, Jurassic World and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 were each only one vote behind, so it was a close race! I guess this means I'd better go see them all :)

    12. I'm late... sigh... but INSIDE OUT gets my vote!!!!!!
